1. The victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasura


The Goddess Durga fought with demon Mahishasura for ten days and nine nights. Dasara/Dussehra also called Vijayadashami its means victory on dashami.


Goddess Durga fought with devil Mahishasur for nine days and nights, on the tenth day, devil Mahishasur was killed.


2. God Rama victory on demon king Ravan


On this day God Rama killed demon king Ravan, who had abducted Rama's wife sita.

On the day of Ashvin Shukla Dashami, God Rama defeated demon king Ravana. God Rama, Sita and Lakshman returned to Aydhya on 30th day of Ashwin, 20 days after Dasara/Dussehra (Vijayadashami). To celebrate of God Rama's returning, in the evening the Ayodhya residents lit millions of lamps, the day is celebrated in India as Diwali.

3. Pancha Pandavas exile


Pancha Pandavas lost in a dice game by Kaurav and were exiled in the forest for twelve years. Pancha Pandavas hide their weapens in hole of "Shami tree" before they entered in the kingdom of virat. On Vijayadashami they recovered their weapons from Shami tree, declared their true identities and defeated Kauravas, who had attacked king virat to steal his cattle. Since that day Shami trees and weapons have been worshiped, thats why Vijayadashami also called as Ayudhapuja and the exchange of shami leaves on Vijayadashami has been a symbol of good fortune.



Navratri history 


Navaratri and Dasara/Dussehra (Vijayadashami) are long festivals celebrating over a period of ten days. The first nine days are navaratri festival. Navaratri means nine nights. Dasara/Dussehra (Vijayadashami) which is the last day (tenth day).

Navaratri festivals Mother Goddess forms in nine avatars as Shailaputri, Brahmacharini, Chandrakanta, Kushmada, Skandama, Katyayani, Kalaratri, Mahagauri and Siddhidatri.

Bengalis celebrated this festival as a part of their main festival Durga Puja, means this day the end of Durga Puja celebration. The western India like Gujarat, Rajasthan throughout the nine days, both men and women participate in a danced called dandiya.

How to make Ugadi Pachadi


Ingredients:

Raw Mangoes - 2 

Red Chilli or green chilli - as per test 

Neem flower - 1 or 2 tabs

Tamarind juice - 3 cups

Jaggery or Sugar - 3 cups

Salt - as per test

How to prepare: Ugadi Pachadi 

Take tamarind juice in a new pot add all the ingredients one by one and mixed well and the ugadi pachadi ready.
